Consignment period

Most items at Foryu Furnishings sell during the first 4 weeks of consignment. Our standard consignment period is 8 weeks and Sellers have the option, for some items, to extend the consignment period an additional 4 weeks. .

Commission Structure

We take a commission for each item we sell.

Our commission is 50% of the final selling price during the standard 8 week consignment period. At the end of the consignment period, if the item has not sold, the Consigner can choose to leave the item at Foryu Furnishings for an additional 4 weeks but the comission structure, because of our increased costs, will change to 60% for Foryu Furnishings, 40% for the Seller.

If an item is withdrawn from consignment by the owner prior to 60 days there is a flooring fee charge of 15% of the high contract price.

Some very large items at the lower end of our price range may be assessed a flooring fee based on a price-to-floor-space calculation.

Discounts

Our goal is to sell everything in our store within the consignment period at the best price. Items will not be discounted during the first 6 weeks unless we determine, based on customer feedback, that the initial selling price is too high. Some items will be discounted by 15% to 30% from the initial selling price during the last 2 weeks of the 8 week consignment period.

Settlements

Consignment checks are mailed once a month (usually on the 10th). Checks under $30 will be held if a consigner still has items that have not sold. If your item is advertised on our Web Catalog, you can check in periodically to see if it has sold (if it disappears, it has sold).

Pickup/ Delivery

We will arrange for professional movers to transport your merchandise to and from the store if you request this service. The fee is typically $50 and up depending on distance, size and number of items; this fee is deducted from the final settlement or is due when you pick up any items that do not sell. We sell only high-quality merchandise and Foryu Furnishings will refuse to accept any item that arrives at the store in an unsellable condition (damaged, stained, pet or tobacco odor, etc.).

Payments

We accept payment by phone or in person via all major credit cards and debit cards. We accept checks with driver's licence for ID. We cannot accept returns or refund shipping charges. We will hold an item for 24 hours for a 10% non-refundable deposit.
